Maddison and Udogie Return as Tottenham Receive Team News Boost Ahead of Crystal Palace
Tottenham have received a major boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, with James Maddison and Destiny Udogie both available for selection.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Maddison is fit to return to the squad despite concerns following his recent injury scare against Chelsea. The midfielder was forced off during the second half of Tottenham’s 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge, raising fears given his recent injury history.
De Zerbi revealed that Maddison has not trained normally with the rest of the squad this week but remains available for the match. The Spurs boss described the playmaker as an important player and suggested a final decision on whether he starts or features from the bench could be made closer to kick-off.
Maddison has played an important role since returning to the starting lineup, helping Tottenham secure back-to-back league victories as they moved away from the relegation zone.
There was also positive news regarding Udogie, who has missed Tottenham’s last two matches with a knee problem. De Zerbi confirmed that the Italian defender is now fit and back in contention.
However, four players will remain unavailable for the Crystal Palace match. Tosin, Lucas Bergvall, Mykhailo Mudryk and Savio are all still sidelined through injury.
Bergvall continues his recovery from a knee issue, while Mudryk has been out since early September with an ankle problem. Savio is also still dealing with a muscle injury.
Meanwhile, De Zerbi has additional options to consider, with Pedro Porro available after featuring as a substitute against Chelsea. The Tottenham boss praised the defender and also highlighted Mathys Tel, who scored an impressive goal in the victory at Stamford Bridge.
With Maddison and Udogie back in the squad, Tottenham will head into their clash with Crystal Palace with a stronger group of players available as they look to continue their recent positive form.
