🚨 UCL: Liverpool suffer major injury setback ahead of Fenerbahce clash
Liverpool have been handed a fresh injury blow ahead of their crucial Champions League encounter against Fenerbahce, with Ryan Gravenberch ruled out of the match after suffering a heel injury.
The Dutch midfielder will not travel with the rest of the Liverpool squad to Turkey and will instead remain at the AXA Training Centre, where he will receive treatment from the club’s medical staff.
The full extent of Gravenberch’s injury has not yet been confirmed, leaving uncertainty over when he could return to action.
However, there is some positive news for Liverpool, as Dominik Szoboszlai has recovered from his injury problems and is expected to be available for Wednesday’s encounter.
Alexis Mac Allister and young midfielder Trey Nyoni have also been included in Andoni Iraola’s travelling squad as Liverpool prepare for a difficult test in Istanbul.
The absence of Gravenberch represents a significant setback for the Reds, especially with the midfielder being an important option in the centre of the pitch.
Liverpool have made an impressive start to their Champions League campaign, winning all three of their opening matches and currently sitting third in the competition’s standings.
Manager Andoni Iraola is expected to provide further updates on the team’s injury situation during his pre-match press conference.
