Tottenham loan watch: Alasdair Gold names “exciting” youngster who “gets you out of your seat”
Tottenham’s difficult start to the 2026/27 season has continued, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side still searching for their first Premier League victory after five games.
Spurs have collected just two points so far, suffering defeats against Brentford, Newcastle and Aston Villa, with their attacking struggles remaining a major concern.
While the first team continues to struggle, several Tottenham players away on loan are making a strong impression.
Will Lankshear has been scoring regularly since joining Middlesbrough permanently, Kevin Danso has quickly become a favourite at Sunderland, while Mikey Moore has impressed in a number 10 role during his loan spell at FC Köln.
However, Tottenham youngster Yusuf Akhamrich has also caught the attention of Alasdair Gold.
Speaking during the international break, Gold praised the 21-year-old winger, who is currently on loan at Leyton Orient.
«“A terrific young winger is Yusuf Akhamrich. He’s at Leyton Orient, spectacular player.”»
Akhamrich has recorded three goals and three assists in his first seven League One appearances, including two assists against Wycombe.
Gold described him as a “really exciting young player” and a winger who can be the type of player that “gets you out of your seat.”
The main obstacle to Akhamrich breaking into Tottenham’s first team appears to be the competition for places. Gold pointed to Savinho and Mohammed Kudus as the players currently ahead of him on the right side.
Savinho arrived from Manchester City for around £75m but is yet to register a Premier League goal or assist this season, increasing the pressure on the expensive signing to deliver.
With Akhamrich continuing to impress in League One, Tottenham will be keeping a close eye on his development as the youngster looks to prove he can eventually compete for a place in De Zerbi’s squad.
