Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s long-term future at Anfield is still unresolved, with Juventus reportedly capable of reviving their interest in the Brazilian goalkeeper.
Alisson, who turns 34 next month, is currently in the final season of his Liverpool contract. The club exercised a one-year extension option earlier this year, keeping him at Anfield until the end of the 2026/27 season. However, reports indicate that Liverpool and Alisson have not yet opened formal negotiations over another extension.
The situation could attract Juventus again. The Italian giants were interested in Alisson during the summer but did not complete a deal. Their goalkeeping situation has since become more complicated, with Kamil Grabara expected to miss six to seven months following cruciate ligament surgery, while veteran goalkeeper Neto has been brought in as emergency cover.
Liverpool, meanwhile, already have a potential successor in Giorgi Mamardashvili, alongside young Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans. This gives the club options as it considers how to manage its goalkeeping department beyond the current season.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Alisson remains Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper and has continued to start matches this season. His performances have also remained strong, meaning there is no indication that Liverpool are immediately looking to replace him.
There is also evidence that Liverpool’s manager Andoni Iraola wants Alisson to remain at the club. Earlier in the summer, Iraola described himself as very happy with Liverpool’s goalkeeping options and highlighted Alisson’s importance as an experienced leader in a changing squad.
For now, no transfer has been agreed and Alisson remains a Liverpool player. The key issue is whether Liverpool eventually offer him a new contract or allow his current deal to run toward its 2027 expiration, which could give Juventus another opportunity.
In short: Juventus could return for Alisson, but his departure is not confirmed. Liverpool’s decision on a new contract and the development of Mamardashvili will be important factors in determining what happens next.
