Liverpool academy striker Vincent Joseph’s move to Arsenal.

Vincent Joseph, 16, is leaving Liverpool after nine years at the club and is set to join Arsenal. The highly rated striker rejected Liverpool’s scholarship offer after his schoolboy registration ended, allowing him to pursue a move elsewhere. Arsenal reached an agreement with the teenager, despite interest from other clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.

Joseph has already impressed at youth level. He scored three goals in two appearances for Liverpool U18s last season and has scored eight goals in nine appearances for England U16s.

The transfer initially became complicated because Liverpool and Arsenal could not agree on compensation for the youngster. The matter was expected to go before a tribunal to determine how much Arsenal should pay Liverpool for developing Joseph.

Joseph has now publicly confirmed his Liverpool departure, posting a farewell message after nine years at the academy and thanking the club for the memories. He ended the message with “YNWA.”

Arsenal are continuing to strengthen their academy with young prospects, and Joseph is expected to become another addition to their developing group of teenage talents. His move is not yet the same as an established first-team transfer, as he is only 16 and will continue his development at youth level.

Bottom line: Liverpool are losing a promising young striker to Premier League rivals Arsenal after Joseph chose not to sign scholarship terms at Anfield.
