Liverpool Finally Find Their New Right-Back

Michael Kayode to Liverpool in January?

Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on Brentford right-back Michael Kayode as they assess options to strengthen the position.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young full-backs after an impressive spell at Brentford. His performances have reportedly placed him high on Liverpool’s radar as the Reds look for more quality and depth at right-back.

Kayode’s pace, defensive ability, physical strength and attacking threat make him an attractive option for Liverpool. His long-throw ability has also become one of his most recognised weapons, although Brentford themselves have stressed that his game offers much more than set pieces.

Liverpool’s interest comes as the club continue to consider their long-term options at right-back, particularly with competition and injuries affecting the position.

However, a January deal would be difficult. Kayode signed a new long-term contract with Brentford in July 2026, keeping him at the club until 2032, with the Bees holding an option for another year.

Reports suggest Brentford could demand a fee in the region of £50 million or more before considering a sale.

For Liverpool, the question is whether Kayode is the right player to invest heavily in.

One thing is clear: the Reds are watching him closely, and if Liverpool decide to make their interest concrete, Kayode could become one of the biggest right-back transfer stories surrounding the club.

Could Michael Kayode be Liverpool’s next major defensive signing?
