Tottenham return with impressive video

Tottenham receive major injury boost as Xavi Simons targets earlier return from ACL injury

Tottenham Hotspur could receive a significant boost in the coming months, with Xavi Simons reportedly targeting an earlier return from his serious knee injury than initially expected.

The Dutch international suffered an ACL injury just six months ago, but his recovery appears to be progressing well as he enters the advanced stages of rehabilitation.

Simons has regularly shared videos of his recovery on social media, giving Tottenham supporters encouraging glimpses of his progress as he works towards returning to action under Roberto De Zerbi.

Initial predictions suggested the 23-year-old might not return until February 2027. However, that timeline is now looking increasingly unlikely, with the midfielder reportedly hoping to make his comeback much sooner.

According to a Tottenham insider, Simons is targeting a return to the pitch towards the end of December, while the club’s current expectations point towards January.

The former RB Leipzig star has now provided another encouraging update by sharing a video of himself carrying out light ball work on the pitches at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training ground.

The footage shows Simons beginning to work with the ball again, offering Spurs fans fresh hope that his recovery is moving in the right direction.

Why De Zerbi Will Not Rush Simons Back

Despite the encouraging progress, Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to take unnecessary risks with the midfielder’s recovery.

Simons has been included in Tottenham’s 25-man Premier League squad, suggesting the club had considered the possibility of him returning before the end of the season’s first half.

Furthermore, the return of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski has provided De Zerbi with additional creative options, reducing the pressure to bring Simons back before he is fully ready.

Nevertheless, Tottenham supporters will be eager to see the Dutchman return, particularly given the creativity and attacking quality he could bring to the team.

Meanwhile, Spurs are awaiting further clarity on Maddison’s fitness after the England international was forced off during the second half of the 2-0 victory over Chelsea with a suspected groin problem.

De Zerbi has suggested that Maddison’s injury is not serious, while the midfielder was reportedly seen moving comfortably after the match.

For Tottenham, Simons’ encouraging recovery could prove to be an important boost as the club navigates a demanding period of the campaign.
