Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Brighton could face uncertainty following a severe weather warning issued by the UK Met Office ahead of Sunday’s encounter at Anfield.
The Reds are scheduled to welcome Brighton on Sunday, October 25, but concerns have emerged over whether the match can safely proceed as Storm Boelo brings strong winds and heavy rainfall to parts of the United Kingdom.
The Met Office has issued weather warnings covering Merseyside, with wind gusts expected to reach between 55 and 65 mph in many areas. Exposed coastal locations could experience even stronger gusts of up to 70–80 mph.
The storm has already disrupted several outdoor events, raising further concerns about travel conditions and public safety across the region.
MATCHDAY SAFETY UNDER SCRUTINY
Although the fixture has not been officially postponed, the safety of supporters travelling to Anfield is expected to play a major role in determining whether the match goes ahead as planned.
Officials from both clubs, alongside Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, are expected to consider the potential risks before any final decision is made.
Strong winds and fallen debris could disrupt road and rail services, creating difficulties for fans travelling to the stadium, particularly those making long journeys.
Liverpool supporters may recall the Merseyside derby in December 2024, which was postponed shortly before kick-off because of dangerous weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh.
For now, supporters will be waiting for further updates as authorities assess the situation.
WILL LIVERPOOL VS BRIGHTON GO AHEAD?
At the time of the reports, the match remained scheduled to take place at Anfield, with no official postponement confirmed.
However, the final decision will depend on safety assessments and the conditions surrounding the stadium and travelling routes.
The priority remains protecting players, supporters and everyone involved in organising the fixture.
