Liverpool have reportedly decided against offering Alexis Mac Allister a new contract for the time being, raising fresh questions about the midfielder’s long-term future at Anfield.
The Argentina international has become a major talking point after revealing his disappointment at not receiving a contract extension, especially after teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch secured new long-term deals.
Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023, has remained committed to the club despite uncertainty surrounding his future. The midfielder previously admitted that he had opportunities to leave during the summer transfer window but chose to stay because of his strong connection with Liverpool.
According to reports citing journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are currently not planning to offer the 27-year-old a new deal. The club are instead considering their midfield options ahead of the 2027 transfer window.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in strengthening their midfield, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Manu Koné among the players linked with a potential move to Anfield.
Mac Allister’s contract situation could therefore become an important issue next summer, particularly if Liverpool decide to recruit another midfielder rather than extend his existing agreement.
Despite the uncertainty, the Argentine has made it clear that he intends to continue giving his best for Liverpool. However, with no new contract currently on the table, questions remain over whether he will still be at Anfield beyond the 2026–27 campaign.
Liverpool supporters will be watching closely to see whether the club changes its position or allows one of its key midfielders to approach the final year of his contract.
