Tottenham handed opportunity to sign Antonio Nusa

Arsenal face transfer setback as Tottenham could hijack move for €70m-rated Antonio Nusa

Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to spend more than €55 million (£46m) on Antonio Nusa, while RB Leipzig are holding out for €70 million (£58.5m) to part ways with their highly-rated winger.

According to reports, Leipzig’s asking price remains the biggest stumbling block in Arsenal’s attempts to secure the Norwegian international during the January transfer window.

This situation could present Tottenham with an opportunity to beat their North London rivals to his signature, provided they are willing to meet Leipzig’s £58.5m valuation.

Spurs were strongly interested in Nusa throughout the summer transfer window but ultimately failed to complete a deal. With Arsenal now encountering difficulties in negotiations, Tottenham could have another opportunity to revive their interest.

Could Antonio Nusa’s arrival affect Mathys Tel’s development at Tottenham?

Although Mathys Tel has endured some inconsistent performances this season, his display against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge offered a reminder of his enormous potential.

The French forward showed glimpses of his quality, suggesting that confidence and regular opportunities could help him become a much more influential player for Spurs.

His Premier League numbers this season currently stand at:

* Appearances: 6

* Minutes played: 351

* Goals: 1

* Assists: 0

* Key passes: 5

* Successful dribbles: 14

Roberto De Zerbi has also made it clear that he has enormous faith in the young forward and wants him to keep working towards fulfilling his potential.

Speaking after Tel’s performance against Chelsea, the Tottenham manager said:

“He has to push, to push, to push, to keep going, because he’s a talent. He has to clean the last 30 metres, the last decision, the last pass, the shot. He has an unbelievable shot. I believe in Mathys, maybe more than he believes in himself.”

De Zerbi’s comments suggest that Tel remains an important part of his plans.

Consequently, Tottenham may need to carefully consider whether spending heavily on another left-winger in January could limit Tel’s opportunities and slow down his development.
