Kelci-Rose Bowers’ brief spell in London has come to an unexpected end, with the former Bournemouth player leaving Hashtag United less than two months after joining the club.
Bowers, who had previously played for Bournemouth alongside her partner Marcos Senesi, moved to London after the Argentine defender completed his transfer to Tottenham during the summer.
Senesi joined Spurs at the beginning of June, signing a four-year contract after his Bournemouth deal expired. Bowers subsequently followed him to London and made a surprise move to Hashtag United in August.
However, her time at the club has been cut short after just three competitive appearances.
The former England youth international played the full 90 minutes in Hashtag’s opening match against Lewes before scoring in the League Cup. She then featured against her former club Bournemouth on August 30, which ultimately proved to be her final appearance for the side.
Hashtag confirmed on Thursday that Bowers had left following a mutual termination of her contract. The club explained that the move had simply not worked out and that she had been allowed to join another FA Women’s National League side.
The 22-year-old’s next destination has not yet been revealed, with Hashtag choosing not to name her new club.
Interestingly, Bowers’ sudden departure comes at a time when Senesi is also struggling to establish himself at Tottenham.
The centre-back enjoyed an impressive spell at Bournemouth last season, but opportunities have been limited since his move to Spurs. He has started just one Premier League match this campaign, featuring in Tottenham’s opening defeat to Brentford.
Since then, Roberto De Zerbi has left the Argentina international on the bench without using him in the league. Senesi has also featured in the Carabao Cup, but Tottenham were eliminated from the competition by Liverpool.
With Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke currently appearing to be ahead of him in De Zerbi’s defensive plans, Senesi now faces a battle to force his way into the starting XI.
Bowers has already moved on after her short-lived spell in London, while Senesi will be hoping his own Tottenham chapter takes a very different turn and that he can eventually establish himself in the team.
