Tottenham Hotspur are already planning their next marquee signing after completing deals for Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that the club has shifted its attention to strengthening Roberto De Zerbi’s attack.
Spurs have enjoyed one of the most aggressive transfer windows in recent memory, surprising fans and rivals alike with their spending. After landing Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, Tottenham splashed over £50 million on Jan Paul van Hecke before investing a combined £185 million to sign Fernandes and Tonali.
The arrivals of the two midfielders have also ended Tottenham’s pursuit of Joao Palhinha, with the Portuguese international confirming his departure through a farewell message on social media.
Having reinforced their goalkeeping, defence and midfield, Spurs are now focused on adding more firepower up front. While Manchester City’s Savinho has been heavily linked, Romano says Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo has emerged as another major target.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Tottenham admire the Netherlands international, but Liverpool are currently unwilling to entertain offers. He added that the Reds have not opened negotiations and are not encouraging Gakpo to leave, although the situation could change later in the transfer window if Spurs submit a significant bid.
If a move for Gakpo proves too difficult, Tottenham could turn to AC Milan star Rafael Leão. According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan may be prepared to sell the Portuguese winger for around €60 million (£51 million). Leão is believed to be eager for a new challenge, with a move to the Premier League reportedly his preferred destination.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring Leão, setting up a potential transfer battle as Tottenham look to complete another statement signing before the new season begins.
