Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for Como midfielder Martin Baturina as they continue strengthening Roberto De Zerbi’s squad this summer.
After confirming the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United last week, Spurs are now expected to turn their attention towards adding more creativity in attack.
According to Sport Witness, Baturina has emerged as a target following an impressive debut campaign with Como in Serie A and a solid World Cup showing for Croatia. The 23-year-old is believed to carry a price tag of around £70 million, although Tottenham’s heavy spending so far suggests they could be willing to meet the valuation.
An attacking midfielder is viewed as a priority after injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski left Xavi Simons as the club’s only natural creative option for much of last season. While Simons impressed, he also had fitness issues, highlighting the need for greater depth.
Baturina has built a reputation as one of Serie A’s most exciting attacking midfielders, standing out for his vision, passing range, close control and technical quality. He also possesses a dangerous shot from distance and offers valuable versatility, with the ability to play as a central striker, on the left wing, or in a deeper midfield role.
With his age, versatility and attacking quality, Baturina could prove to be an excellent addition for Spurs if they decide to push ahead with a deal in the coming weeks.
