Beşiktaş are reportedly closing in on one of the biggest signings of the summer, with Mohamed Salah said to have reached an agreement in principle to continue his career in Turkey.
The Egyptian forward is available on a free transfer after bringing his remarkable spell at Liverpool to an end. While clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States have shown interest, Salah is believed to prefer staying in European football, giving Beşiktaş a significant boost in the race for his signature.
Reports suggest the Turkish giants have offered a one-year contract with the option of extending it for another season, worth €12 million annually. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, optimism is growing in Istanbul that the deal could soon be finalized.
According to journalist Nicolò Schira, Salah has agreed in principle to a contract that would keep him at Beşiktaş until 2027, with an option to extend until 2028. The proposed deal is said to be worth €12 million per season.
Head coach Vincenzo Italiano is also playing a key role in the negotiations, personally working to convince Salah that Beşiktaş is the ideal destination for the next stage of his career.
The Turkish club are hopeful the transfer can be completed within days, though some financial details and final paperwork still need to be settled. Earlier negotiations reportedly stalled due to the demands of Salah’s representatives, but recent developments indicate those issues may now be close to being resolved.
Daily Sabah adds that Salah remains the standout target in Beşiktaş’s ambitious rebuilding project under Italiano, with the club continuing direct discussions to iron out the remaining financial matters.
Should the move go through, it would rank among the most significant signings in Turkish football history. Despite entering the latter stages of his career, Salah still possesses the quality, experience, and global appeal to make an immediate impact both on and off the pitch.
The transfer would also benefit both sides. Salah would remain in European football while becoming the face of an ambitious new project, and Beşiktaş would secure one of the world’s biggest stars without paying a transfer fee.
Although the salary package is substantial and expectations would be sky-high, opportunities to sign a player of Salah’s pedigree and worldwide commercial value on a free transfer are exceptionally rare.
