Liverpool identify £51.2m Porto sensation as Yan Diomande backup option

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Porto teenager Oskar Pietuszewski as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements this summer.

The Reds have already strengthened their forward line with the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but manager Andoni Iraola remains determined to add more firepower before the new season begins.

Liverpool kicked off pre-season with an entertaining 4-2 win over Sunderland, where academy talents Kieran Morrison and Lewis Koumas impressed. Despite the encouraging displays from the club’s youngsters, Iraola is still keen to bring in experienced quality on the flanks.

According to Fussballdaten, Liverpool are keeping a close watch on Pietuszewski, whose Porto contract includes a £51.2 million release clause.

The 18-year-old only arrived at Porto in January 2026 but has already established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects. His rapid rise has alerted several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Polish international has already earned four senior caps, although Borussia Dortmund are currently believed to be leading the race for his signature.

Liverpool have spent much of the summer pursuing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and have already had a significant bid turned down. However, their hopes of landing the Ivory Coast international have been complicated by Real Madrid, who are reportedly advancing their interest and have verbally agreed personal terms with the player.

The Reds also remain admirers of Bradley Barcola, but negotiations with both the French winger and Paris Saint-Germain have yet to gather momentum.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has reportedly been offered to Liverpool, though his substantial salary demands could make a move difficult.

With Iraola still prioritising the addition of a right-sided attacker, Liverpool could also consider other options such as Said El Mala and Rayan if their primary targets remain out of reach before the transfer window closes.
