Morgan Gibbs-White Makes Decision on Tottenham Move as Spurs Face Major New Hurdle

Morgan Gibbs-White is reportedly open to leaving Nottingham Forest, with Tottenham Hotspur once again showing strong interest in signing the England midfielder.

Spurs first made Gibbs-White a major target in 2025, triggering his £60 million release clause. The move sparked a furious reaction from Forest, who accused Tottenham of making an improper approach and threatened legal action.

Gibbs-White ultimately remained at the City Ground, signing a new three-year contract. The 26-year-old has since enjoyed an outstanding 2026, scoring more goals than any other midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues during the calendar year.

Tottenham have now revived their interest and are reportedly preparing a huge offer. Football Insider claims Spurs could be ready to make a bid worth up to £125 million, potentially matching the British transfer record.

Gibbs-White is said to be considering whether to push for a move away from Forest at the end of the season. However, Tottenham’s chances could depend heavily on Champions League qualification.

The midfielder reportedly wants to play in Europe’s elite competition at this stage of his career. He would be willing to remain at Forest if the club secures European football, but could consider other options if they fail to meet those ambitions.

Several major Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation, meaning Spurs could face significant competition for his signature.

For Tottenham, however, there is a major problem. They have started the season poorly and currently sit bottom of the Premier League after failing to win any of their opening five matches.

Despite finally scoring their first two league goals against Aston Villa, Spurs suffered a 3-2 defeat at home.

Forest, meanwhile, sit 13th after collecting five points from their opening five games under new manager Oliver Glasner.

With both clubs currently outside the Champions League places, Gibbs-White may ultimately have to consider other destinations if his priority is playing in Europe’s top competition.

Tottenham will therefore need a dramatic improvement in their season if they are to convince Gibbs-White that joining Spurs is the right next step in his career.
