Jan Paul van Hecke delivered another outstanding performance for Tottenham as Roberto De Zerbi’s side faced Crystal Palace, showing exactly why the manager was so keen to bring him to the club.
The match appeared to become more comfortable for Spurs early on after Crystal Palace were reduced to 10 men following Jean-Philippe Mateta’s dangerous challenge. However, Van Hecke’s individual display still stood out, as he took complete control of the game from the heart of Tottenham’s defence.

His performances in recent weeks have highlighted his ability both on and off the ball. Having previously impressed under De Zerbi at Brighton, Van Hecke now appears to have developed into an even more complete player—stronger, sharper and more decisive.
The Crystal Palace performance was another major statement from the centre-back, suggesting that Van Hecke may have exceeded even De Zerbi’s expectations since arriving at Tottenham.
