LIVERPOOL REPORTEDLY EYE LAMINE CAMARA AS A FUTURE MIDFIELD TARGET

Liverpool Keep Lamine Camara in Their Plans for the Future

Liverpool reportedly had a clear contingency plan in place this summer in case Alexis Mac Allister decided to leave Anfield, with Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara identified as the club’s preferred replacement.

According to reports, the Reds were monitoring the 22-year-old Senegal international and would have seriously considered making a move if Mac Allister had pushed for an exit and a suitable offer had arrived.

However, Mac Allister remained at Liverpool, meaning the club did not make an official approach for Camara during the summer window.

Chelsea Move Collapses Dramatically

Camara was heavily involved in one of the most dramatic transfer stories of deadline day. Chelsea appeared to have reached an agreement with Monaco for the midfielder, with the deal reportedly worth around €55 million.

The transfer even appeared close to completion before Monaco unexpectedly cancelled the agreement. The decision reportedly left Chelsea extremely frustrated, while Camara was also said to be unhappy after missing out on the move.

The situation developed after Monaco continued negotiations involving Folarin Balogun and Everton, ultimately choosing to keep Camara rather than complete his transfer to Chelsea.

Liverpool Could Return for Camara

Despite not signing him this summer, Liverpool’s interest in Camara has reportedly remained strong.

The Reds are said to have maintained communication with the player’s representatives, leaving open the possibility of a future move. Reports suggest Liverpool could revisit the situation in 2027, depending on their midfield needs and Camara’s development.

There were also reports that Liverpool contacted Monaco and Camara around deadline day, with the club indicating that they could return for the midfielder in a future transfer window.

For now, Camara remains at Monaco, but his name could become increasingly important in Liverpool’s future recruitment plans.

Chelsea Looking Elsewhere

Chelsea’s failed pursuit could also change their own transfer strategy. With Enzo Fernández having moved to Manchester City, the Blues still need to strengthen their midfield.

Pablo Barrios of Atlético Madrid has reportedly emerged as an alternative target, with Chelsea expected to consider a move when the transfer window reopens.

For Liverpool, meanwhile, Camara remains an attractive long-term option. If Mac Allister’s future changes or the Reds decide to refresh their midfield, the Senegalese midfielder could once again become a serious target.
