RYAN GARCIA SETS TWO CONDITIONS FOR GERVONTA DAVIS REMATCH

Ryan Garcia has revealed two major conditions he wants met before agreeing to a highly anticipated rematch with Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Talks for a second meeting between the two fighters are reportedly underway, with Garcia once again making it clear that he wants the opportunity to avenge his 2023 loss to Davis.

Garcia’s name had also been linked with a potential unification clash against WBA champion Teofimo Lopez following his most recent bout, but Davis remains one of his biggest targets.

A rematch could face several challenges, particularly because Davis is naturally smaller than Garcia and has been inactive for an extended period while dealing with legal matters outside the ring.

However, a recent social-media exchange between the two boxers appears to have moved discussions forward. Garcia indicated that negotiations are progressing and believes Davis could eventually agree to compete at the full 147-pound welterweight limit.

Garcia has also insisted that Davis should have a tune-up fight before facing him, saying he wants “Tank” to enter the rematch fully prepared.

Garcia said he can confirm that Davis and Al Haymon have been in contact with his team. He made it clear that he wants the fight at 147 pounds and also wants Davis to have a tune-up bout first.

The former rivals first met in 2023, when Davis stopped Garcia in the seventh round. Garcia has repeatedly argued that the weight conditions surrounding that fight affected his performance and left him drained.

Now, Garcia is pushing for a second opportunity, this time under conditions he believes will allow both fighters to perform at their best.
