Unbeaten EFL Club Opens Door for Dele Alli as He Searches for a New Club

Former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been offered the opportunity to train with League Two side Barnet as he continues his search for a new club.

Barnet, based in north London, are located close to the area where Alli became a major name during his time with Tottenham Hotspur. The club have made an impressive start to the season, remaining unbeaten after their first seven league matches and sitting at the top of the League Two table as they push for promotion to League One.

Barnet manager Dean Brennan has made it clear that Alli would be welcome to train with the squad. Speaking to talkSPORT, Brennan said he would gladly have the experienced midfielder involved, describing Alli as a serious footballer who is currently experiencing a difficult period in his career.

Brennan suggested that Alli deserves another opportunity to rebuild his career and said there would be no problem with him joining Barnet’s training sessions. He also pointed out that the club regularly allows players without contracts to train with the team, meaning Alli would be welcome if he simply wants to work on his fitness.

The 30-year-old has already been using Barnet’s training facilities. Brennan confirmed that Alli has rented the facilities, explaining that the club makes them available to players and other users. He also highlighted the financial realities facing clubs at their level, noting that Barnet do not attract the same crowds or revenue as teams further up the football pyramid.

Alli’s most recent professional appearance came in March 2025 during his debut for Como. The midfielder was sent off just nine minutes after coming onto the pitch after accidentally stepping on Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s calf. Former Tottenham teammate Kyle Walker reportedly appealed to the referee on Alli’s behalf, but the official decided that a red card was warranted.

Since that appearance, Alli has continued sharing videos of his training on social media while searching for another club.

His final spell in English football came at Everton, whom he left in 2024 after failing to make a competitive appearance during that season. His most recent competitive goal came in January 2023, when he scored for Besiktas against Alanyaspor.

Despite his lengthy absence from regular first-team football, Alli is still hoping to revive his career. At present, it remains unclear whether he has received any offers since leaving Como or whether he has rejected any opportunities.

For now, the door at Barnet appears to be open if the former Tottenham star wants a place to train and continue preparing for his next opportunity.
