Tackled, recovers, scores: Will Wight nets spectacular solo goal for Liverpool U21s vs Rochdale

Liverpool Youngster Scores Stunning Solo Goal After Winning Ball Back Against Rochdale

Liverpool U21 striker Will Wright produced a brilliant moment of individual quality in the EFL Trophy against Rochdale, scoring after recovering the ball following a tackle.

The Reds were already down to 10 men after Talla Ndiaye was sent off in the 21st minute, before Rochdale took the lead through Devante Rodney.

Wright then stepped up with a superb equaliser. The 18-year-old drove at the Rochdale defence, appeared to lose possession after a challenge, regained the ball and powered through the defenders before firing a spectacular effort into the far corner.

The 6ft 4in forward joined Liverpool from Salford City in 2025 and has impressed with his goalscoring form this season.

Just three days earlier, Wright scored twice in Liverpool U21s’ 5-1 victory over Brighton, while he has also been involved with the senior squad during pre-season.

The teenager is now targeting his first-team debut and has set his sights on reaching double figures in Premier League 2 this season.
