Liverpool could revisit Yankuba Minteh deal in January
Liverpool could reportedly return for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh during the January transfer window after failing to secure his signature in the summer. The Reds were understood to have made multiple attempts to sign the 22-year-old, but Brighton rejected their approaches.
Liverpool may once again consider strengthening their attack in January, particularly on the right side following Mohamed Salah’s departure. According to the report, Minteh remains a player the club could continue monitoring as they assess their attacking options.
Transfer analyst Pete O’Rourke believes Liverpool could look at several targets if they decide they need another right-sided forward. He suggested that Minteh is likely to remain on their radar because of the club’s previous attempts to sign him. However, Liverpool’s January plans could depend heavily on how their current attacking options perform during the opening months of the season.
Liverpool have already added Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz to their attacking options. If those players, along with Cody Gakpo, perform well on the right wing, the club may decide that another signing is unnecessary. But if Liverpool still lack sufficient pace and creativity in that position, Minteh could become an attractive option.
The Brighton winger would offer Liverpool considerable speed, direct running and unpredictability in the final third. His ability to create chances and stretch opposing defences could make him a useful addition to Liverpool’s attack.
Minteh is currently dealing with an injury and is expected to return in the coming months. His performances after recovering will likely be important, as Liverpool would want to assess whether he can rediscover his best form before making another move.
Brighton could make a January deal difficult
A January transfer could prove complicated because Brighton are unlikely to be eager to lose an important player midway through the season. Liverpool could therefore face a significant financial demand if they decide to make another attempt for Minteh.
The Reds have already been unable to convince Brighton to sell the player despite making substantial offers during the summer. Whether the two clubs can reach an agreement in January will depend on Liverpool’s needs, Minteh’s form and Brighton’s willingness to negotiate.
For Liverpool, Minteh could potentially address the need for a dynamic right-sided attacker and provide additional pace and creativity in the final third. However, the club’s decision will ultimately depend on how their existing attacking options perform between now and January.
