Liverpool could be prepared to part ways with Alexis Mac Allister this summer if a strong World Cup campaign attracts significant interest from rival clubs.
The Argentine midfielder is expected to play a central role as Argentina attempt to retain their World Cup title. Ironically, it was his standout displays during their 2022 triumph that earned him a move to Liverpool. However, after two impressive seasons at Anfield, his form dipped considerably over the past year.
Recurring injury problems throughout the 2025-26 campaign hampered Mac Allister’s performances, with the midfielder struggling to reach his usual standards as Liverpool endured a difficult season. Reports suggest he is among the senior players most likely to leave Anfield this summer, with Real Madrid continuing to monitor his situation closely.
New Madrid manager Mourinho is understood to be a keen admirer of the 28-year-old and wants to strengthen his midfield following the anticipated arrival of Bernardo Silva. While the Spanish giants have also been linked with Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool are believed to be far less willing to entertain offers for the Hungarian, making Mac Allister the more realistic target.
