Liverpool are preparing for a major summer rebuild as the club looks to assemble a squad capable of returning to the summit of the Premier League.
Significant changes have already taken place behind the scenes, with Arne Slot departing and Andoni Iraola expected to take charge at Anfield ahead of the new season. The transition has also affected the playing squad, as Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all confirmed their exits, marking the beginning of a new era on Merseyside.
With several key departures, Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market, targeting players who can both strengthen the team and fit Iraola’s demanding, high-intensity style of football.
One name now attracting attention is Burnley defender Maxime Esteve. According to reports, the Reds are monitoring the 24-year-old French centre-back as they search for potential replacements following Konate’s departure.
Esteve has been a standout performer for Burnley, making 100 appearances for the club. However, the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League could open the door for a summer exit despite the defender signing a long-term contract last year.

A product of Montpellier’s academy, Esteve is a left-footed centre-back who has represented France at various youth levels and has accumulated more than 160 senior appearances during his career. Since arriving at Burnley in 2024, initially on loan before making the move permanent, he has established himself as one of the club’s most reliable defenders.
While his campaign included the misfortune of scoring two own goals in a match against Manchester City, a rare Premier League occurrence, Esteve’s overall performances have continued to attract admirers. Liverpool will now decide whether the French defender is the right player to help lead the club into its next chapter under Iraola.
