Liverpool are in advanced talks to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are entering a period of major transition this summer, with new manager Andoni Iraola and his coaching staff preparing to take charge while significant changes are made to the squad.

Several high-profile departures have already been confirmed, including Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konaté, all of whom left upon the expiration of their contracts. Meanwhile, the futures of Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister remain uncertain.

On the arrivals front, Jeremy Jacquet’s move, agreed in January, is set to be completed, while Ifeanyi Ndukwe will also join the club ahead of pre-season. Liverpool continue to monitor a number of targets, with Bradley Barcola, Yan Diomande, Lamine Camara, Mamadou Sangare, Adam Wharton and Alex Scott all admired by the club. Benfica right-back Daniel Banjaqui has also emerged as a potential option.

The overhaul extends beyond the senior team, with Liverpool’s U21 squad expected to undergo significant changes. Several young players are likely to seek loan moves, including Armin Pecsi and Kieran Morrison, while EFL clubs have shown strong interest in Wellity Lucky and Amara Nallo.

Amid these developments, Liverpool are looking to strengthen their academy ranks and have reportedly entered advanced discussions to sign Hungary U19 international Patrik Farkas. The Blackburn Rovers midfielder is expected to become a free agent later this month and is currently negotiating a two-year deal that could begin on July 1.

Farkas previously spent more than two years in Liverpool’s academy before moving to Blackburn at U16 level. Since then, he has established himself as a regular for Blackburn’s U21 side and even earned recognition at senior level. Notably, he impressed against Liverpool’s U18 team on multiple occasions, contributing goals and assists.

Known for his energetic style and defensive work rate, Farkas won 70% of his defensive duels per 90 minutes in Premier League 2 action. If the move is completed, he is expected to join Liverpool’s U21 squad.

The midfielder would become the fifth Hungarian at Liverpool, joining his younger brother Erik Farkas, Milos Kerkez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Armin Pecsi, while continuing the club’s long tradition of Hungarian talent progressing through the ranks.
