Brazen approach for Liverpool player brushed aside by agent, with Iraola set to monitor him closely

Agent and intermediary David Lavelle has now shed light on why the move failed, suggesting Liverpool could ultimately retain the Brazilian beyond this summer.

Speaking to Oggi Sport Notizie, Lavelle explained that new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is eager to assess every member of his squad before making major decisions.

> “Liverpool have a new manager now, and Iraola will probably want to evaluate everyone first. Alisson also has just one year remaining on his contract,” Lavelle said.

Lavelle revealed that although Alisson had already reached an agreement with Juventus on personal terms, the Serie A club’s offer to Liverpool was nowhere near acceptable.

> “I know Alisson agreed personal terms with Juventus. He’s valued at around €15 million, but Juventus came in with a very bold offer. I’m not sure if they thought €7 million would be enough simply because he has one year left on his contract.”

He also stressed that Liverpool have little desire to part with one of the world’s finest goalkeepers.

> “Alisson is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and Liverpool want to keep him. With players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk nearing the end of their time at the club, experienced leaders are vital in the dressing room. That’s another reason why Liverpool are keen to retain him.”

Liverpool in a strong position

Although Alisson missed part of last season through injury, he has returned to action and continues to show his quality on the international stage with Brazil. Selling a goalkeeper of his calibre for a cut-price fee would make little sense for Liverpool.

With Salah already gone and the club entering a new era under Iraola, retaining experienced figures like Alisson could prove crucial. His leadership, composure and world-class ability would provide much-needed stability as Liverpool navigate the transition under their new manager.
