Alexander Isak’s injury while playing for Liverpool.

Alexander Isak suffered an injury during Liverpool’s match against Tottenham after coming off the bench and scoring. The Swedish striker finished a chance from a Florian Wirtz pass, but immediately went down after a challenge from Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted after the match that the situation did not look encouraging, noting that Isak was unable to continue playing and had to leave the pitch. At that stage, Liverpool were still waiting for a definitive medical assessment.

Further examinations subsequently confirmed that Isak had suffered an ankle injury involving a fracture of the fibula in his left leg. Liverpool confirmed that he underwent surgery successfully, although the club did not initially provide a specific return date. He was expected to be out for at least several months.

The injury was particularly unfortunate because Isak had just scored against Tottenham and was looking to build his form after an interrupted start to his Liverpool career.

In short: Isak scored against Spurs but was injured immediately afterwards, and scans later confirmed a fractured fibula requiring surgery.
