Sam Allardyce has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to consider a sensational return to Liverpool if his situation at Real Madrid does not improve.
The former England boss believes Trent cannot afford another season struggling for regular minutes, with his role at Madrid still uncertain after Denzel Dumfries’ arrival and Jose Mourinho recently experimenting with him in midfield.
Allardyce also hit back at the criticism surrounding Trent’s defending, arguing that the Liverpool academy graduate is not significantly worse defensively than many other full-backs.
He believes Trent’s elite passing ability remains a “massive asset” — something that could make a return to Anfield an intriguing possibility if his Madrid adventure fails to go as planned.
