Liverpool Have NOT Started Alisson Contract Talks

Liverpool have not yet started negotiations with Alisson Becker over a new contract, despite the Brazilian goalkeeper entering the final year of his current deal.

According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, there have been no discussions so far about extending Alisson’s stay at Anfield. The feeling within the relevant parties is that it is still too early to begin formal negotiations.

Alisson, who is 33 and turns 34 in October, currently has a contract running until June 2027. His current deal therefore leaves Liverpool with a significant decision to make over the coming months.

The goalkeeper’s future had already attracted attention earlier this year after reports linked him with Juventus. Liverpool ultimately kept hold of him, and reports indicated that the club did not want to lose the experienced goalkeeper.

There is also an important timing issue. If Alisson reaches January without signing a new deal, clubs outside England could potentially approach him regarding a pre-contract agreement for the following season.

For Liverpool, the situation is particularly interesting because Giorgi Mamardashvili is already at the club and has been viewed as a potential long-term successor to Alisson. That gives Liverpool an option for the future, but Alisson remains an experienced first-choice goalkeeper.

For now, however, there is no agreement, no ongoing contract negotiation and no confirmed decision that Alisson will leave Liverpool. The current information is simply that talks have not begun because both sides reportedly consider the timing too early.

Bottom line: Alisson is under contract until 2027, but Liverpool have yet to open renewal talks. His future could become a major storyline as the season progresses.
