Pochettino explains why he went to watch Brighton vs AS Roma on Thursday

Mauricio Pochettino has denied suggestions that his presence during Brighton’s Europa League clash with AS Roma on Thursday night was for scouting purposes, and insists he only went there to have fun, and potentially pick up a few things ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming league meeting with the Seagulls.

The Argentine, who was in company of Chelsea’s sporting director, Paul Winstanley told a press conference on Friday (via Football.London): “No it’s not my job to scout.

“We wanted to go as in a few weeks we play Brighton in Brighton.

“Great opportunity to watch live football. Only 45 minutes from here in Cobham so we decided to go. It was good to watch Roma and Brighton also.”

Chelsea will play Brighton in a reverse league fixture at the Amex Stadium on April 20.
