Liverpool have reportedly opened discussions over signing another Paris Saint-Germain player as they continue their pursuit of Bradley Barcola this summer.
With Mohammed Salah having departed Anfield a few months ago, Liverpool remain keen to strengthen their attack, making the addition of a new winger one of their top priorities. Barcola is believed to be high on the club’s shortlist, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Reds are actively working on a deal to bring him to Merseyside.
However, Liverpool’s recruitment plans are not limited to the forward line. Following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, despite narrowly securing Champions League qualification, the club is also exploring reinforcements in other key positions.
According to journalist Dave Ockop, Liverpool have held talks with representatives of PSG centre-back Illia Zabarnyi. The defender has emerged as a potential target after falling out of favour under Luis Enrique during the closing stages of last season.
The report claims Zabarnyi’s representatives have been offering him to interested clubs, with discussions involving Liverpool taking place over the past few days. PSG are expected to demand at least the £57 million they paid Bournemouth for the Ukrainian defender, meaning any move would require a significant investment.
Liverpool’s interest in a new central defender is understandable. The club lost Ibrahima Konate after his contract expired, reducing their defensive depth ahead of the new season.
Although Jeremy Jacquet has arrived, the young defender is still recovering from a long-term injury, raising questions over how quickly he can make an impact in the Premier League.
Joe Gomez remains another option at centre-back, but he is currently sidelined with an injury that will rule him out of Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture. While his absence is not expected to be lengthy and he is not a regular starter, his recurring fitness issues further highlight the need for additional defensive cover.
