Liverpool have reportedly identified Adam Wharton as a leading midfield target as they look to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window. According to Football Transfers, the Reds have shifted their focus to the Crystal Palace star after missing out on João Gomes, who is nearing a move to Aston Villa.
The Merseyside club are expected to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks, although any deal could prove difficult, with Crystal Palace believed to value the 22-year-old at around £100 million.
Since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, Wharton has developed into one of the Premier League’s brightest young midfielders. He adapted quickly to life in the top flight, earned recognition with the England national team, and played an important role in helping Palace secure their first major trophy before continuing his impressive form last season.
The England international has made close to 100 appearances for the Eagles, contributing one goal and 12 assists. His rapid rise has attracted interest from several elite Premier League clubs, with Liverpool now among the strongest contenders for his signature.
Whether Wharton leaves Selhurst Park this summer remains uncertain, but with Liverpool prioritising a new midfielder, the Palace star is expected to remain firmly on their transfer shortlist.
