Tottenham consider shock move for Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger ahead of next summer’s transfer window, with the German international potentially available on a free transfer.
According to recent reports, Spurs are monitoring the 33-year-old’s situation as they assess their options for strengthening the defence. The North London club could attempt to sign him if Real Madrid decide against extending his contract beyond June 2027.
Rüdiger’s current deal includes an option for an additional year, meaning his future at the Santiago Bernabéu remains uncertain. Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are also reportedly interested in securing his signature.
However, the experienced centre-back is currently focused on his responsibilities at Real Madrid and is not rushing into a decision about his next move.
Discussions over his long-term future are expected to take place in the spring, when the club’s intentions regarding another contract extension should become clearer.
Tottenham could view Rüdiger’s experience and Premier League background as valuable assets, particularly if they can secure his services without paying a transfer fee.
For now, though, the proposed move remains speculative, with no confirmed agreement between the player and Spurs. Much will depend on Real Madrid’s contract decision and whether Tottenham can convince the defender to return to England.
