Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak all missed Liverpool’s 6-3 Champions League victory over LASK on Wednesday due to injuries. Szoboszlai is struggling with a hamstring problem, Gakpo has an ankle injury, while Isak is recovering from a thigh issue.
Andoni Iraola was asked whether the trio could return for Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Brentford.
“It’s still too early to tell. We have training tomorrow,” he explained.
“Obviously, they weren’t ready for Wednesday night’s game. We’ll have to wait and see. I think it’s still very early, but I won’t rule out the possibility.”
Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch will be unavailable for the Brentford fixture after receiving a red card against Manchester City last weekend.
Iraola acknowledged the challenge of coping without the midfielder, particularly during a demanding period with matches coming thick and fast.
“At this stage, we’re practically playing every three days, sometimes with even less time between games. That means we need more players available. That’s why we made some changes to the team yesterday,” he said.
“We’ll have to make further changes at the weekend and again when we face Villarreal just three days later.
“We need everyone. At different moments, every player will have an important role to play. Everyone must be ready because we’re likely to need them.”
