Andoni Iraola Confirms Jeremy Jacquet Fit for Liverpool vs Man City

Liverpool have received a major boost ahead of their Premier League showdown against Manchester City, with head coach Andoni Iraola confirming that defender Jeremy Jacquet is fit and available for selection.

The 21-year-old centre-back had raised concerns after picking up a minor hamstring problem while representing France during the international break. The injury forced him to miss France’s 4-1 victory over Belgium.

However, Jacquet returned to training at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre on Thursday, easing fears that he could miss Sunday’s highly anticipated clash at Anfield.

Speaking ahead of the match, Iraola confirmed that the French defender should be ready to play after completing the necessary preparations.

The Liverpool boss also praised Jacquet’s performances, highlighting the young defender’s quality and the progress he has made since joining the club.

Iraola explained that watching Jacquet train regularly provides a better understanding of his abilities than simply seeing him play in matches. He also expressed happiness at the player’s successful introduction to international football with France.

Despite his impressive start, the manager stressed that Jacquet still has plenty of room to develop and improve.

Jacquet’s availability is particularly important for Liverpool, as he has established himself as a regular starter alongside captain Virgil van Dijk. Their partnership has helped provide stability at the heart of the defence this season.

However, Liverpool will be without Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo for the Manchester City encounter. Isak is struggling with a thigh injury, while Gakpo is recovering from an ankle problem. Neither injury is expected to keep the players out for an extended period, but both have been ruled out of Sunday’s fixture.

With two important attacking players unavailable, Liverpool will need their remaining players to step up against a Manchester City side that has made a strong start to the campaign.

Jacquet’s return to fitness will therefore be welcome news for Iraola as Liverpool prepare for a difficult test at Anfield.

The defender’s availability gives Liverpool another reliable option at the back as they look to compete against the league leaders and maintain their strong start to the season.
