How Tottenham could line up against Manchester United if Van de Ven and Van Hecke miss out

Tottenham could be forced into a major defensive reshuffle for their trip to Manchester United on October 10 if both Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke are unable to recover from their respective injuries.

Van Hecke has already returned from Netherlands duty after suffering a foot problem, while Van de Ven was forced off during the Netherlands’ 2–1 victory over Serbia after his hand was accidentally stepped on.

The latest reports are encouraging, with Spurs confident that neither injury is particularly serious. However, there is still no guarantee that either defender will be cleared to face United.

If both Dutch centre-backs are ruled out, Roberto De Zerbi has experienced alternatives available. Tosin Adarabioyo and Marcos Senesi are expected to be the leading candidates to come into the starting XI, while Ben Davies provides another defensive option.

Senesi could be particularly important because of his ability to progress the ball from defence, potentially helping Spurs maintain the build-up style De Zerbi wants.

A possible Tottenham XI could therefore see Tosin and Senesi form the central defensive partnership, with the rest of the team remaining largely unchanged depending on the latest fitness updates.

The potential absences would be a significant blow for Spurs, especially with the club still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season.

Tottenham currently sit at the bottom of the table after taking only two points from their opening five league matches, making the Old Trafford clash a crucial opportunity to turn their season around.
