Angel Reese delivered a standout performance against the Indiana Fever on Thursday night, continuing to show her growth as a player while helping the Atlanta Dream secure a hard-fought 108-101 victory in Indianapolis.

Reese finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, sealing the win with a crucial layup and two free throws in the final 23 seconds. Atlanta’s balanced attack was led by contributions across the starting lineup, with Rhyne Howard adding 16 points, five rebounds, and six assists, Jordin Canada scoring 18 points, Allisha Gray contributing 17 points along with three assists and three steals, and Naz Hillmon chipping in 14 points. The victory improved the Dream’s record to 10-4, placing them fourth in the league standings.

Despite the loss, Indiana pushed Atlanta all the way. The Fever entered the contest riding a five-game winning streak and kept the game close throughout. Kelsey Mitchell reached a milestone by knocking down her 700th career three-pointer and finished with 26 points, matching Caitlin Clark’s 26-point output alongside seven assists. Sophie Cunningham’s reverse layup tied the game at 93-93 with five minutes remaining, while Aliyah Boston added 23 points and eight rebounds in a strong performance.

Although the Fever fell short, there were positives to build on. Boston was effective in limiting Reese’s impact on the offensive glass early in the game, while Monique Billings played an important role in creating opportunities for her teammates.

The two teams are set to meet again on Saturday when Indiana travels to Atlanta. Both sides have plenty at stake as they continue their push up the standings after falling short of their Commissioner’s Cup ambitions.

Indiana claimed the previous meeting between the teams, winning 83-71 on June 4 behind standout performances from Mitchell and Boston. However, Atlanta has continued to improve throughout the season, with Reese’s arrival strengthening the Dream’s rebounding and overall competitiveness.

As always, matchups involving Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese attract significant attention. While much of the early focus centered on their individual rivalry, many fans are now paying closer attention to the quality of both teams and the high level of talent on display whenever they face each other.
