BREAKING: DEJAN KULUSEVSKI REVEALS HEARTBREAKING DETAILS OF HIS TOTTENHAM INJURY NIGHTMARE
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dejan Kulusevski has opened up about the difficult period he endured during his lengthy injury absence, admitting that there were moments when he genuinely feared his football career could be over.
The Swedish international suffered a serious knee injury following a collision with Marc Guehi during Tottenham’s final Premier League fixture of the 2024/25 season. What initially appeared to be a minor problem eventually developed into a nightmare that kept him away from competitive football for more than 18 months.
Speaking about the situation, Kulusevski revealed that the damage to his knee was far worse than initially expected. Medical scans showed that part of his cartilage had become detached and moved to another area of the joint.
The situation became so frustrating that the Spurs star eventually had a heartbreaking conversation with his mother, warning her that he might never be able to play professional football again.
He admitted that he had reached a point where he struggled to believe that his career would continue.
One of the most painful moments during his recovery came when Tottenham won the Europa League trophy against Manchester United in 2025.
Although he was delighted to see his teammates achieve such an important success, watching the celebrations from crutches was extremely difficult. He could barely walk and was unable to collect his winners’ medal himself.
Kulusevski also explained how lonely the experience became, particularly when he had to watch his teammates celebrate while he remained behind because he was unable to travel home with them.
Thankfully, after months of rehabilitation and difficult setbacks, the 26-year-old has finally returned to action for Tottenham.
His comeback represents a significant personal victory after a period that threatened to bring his football journey to an early end.
The Swedish playmaker will now be hoping to regain his best form, build his fitness and make an important contribution to Tottenham’s campaign.
