Richarlison Backs Ferguson’s Criticism of De Zerbi at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has publicly supported criticism of manager Roberto De Zerbi following his continued exclusion from the club’s first-team plans.
The Brazilian striker shared comments from former Everton coach Duncan Ferguson on Instagram, making it clear that he agrees with Ferguson’s concerns about how he has been treated at Tottenham.
Ferguson, who previously worked with Richarlison at Everton, questioned why the striker had been frozen out of the senior squad. He suggested that such a decision would usually indicate a serious disagreement between a player and his manager.
Ferguson also expressed confusion over De Zerbi’s decision, arguing that Richarlison should be given another opportunity to prove his worth rather than being completely sidelined.
Richarlison responded to Ferguson’s remarks on Instagram Stories, thanking the former Everton coach and adding that he was right. His reaction has further fuelled speculation about the relationship between the Brazilian forward and the Tottenham manager.
Why Richarlison Has Been Frozen Out
Richarlison’s situation at Tottenham worsened after his attempts to secure a move away from the club during the summer transfer window failed.
The striker had been linked with a return to Everton, but the proposed transfer collapsed before the deadline. Other possible moves also failed to materialise, leaving him in north London despite his desire to leave.
De Zerbi has previously indicated that Richarlison wanted to depart, while the club subsequently left him out of its Premier League squad for the first half of the season.
As a result, the Brazilian has been unable to feature in Tottenham’s Premier League matches and has been limited to opportunities outside the senior team.
Despite his difficult situation, Richarlison recently returned to competitive action for Tottenham’s Under-21 side in an EFL Trophy match against Cheltenham Town. He scored during the game, which ended in a 2-2 draw, before Tottenham lost the penalty shootout.
Tottenham Face Questions Over the Situation
Richarlison’s public support for Ferguson’s comments has increased the attention surrounding his future at Tottenham.
The situation has also raised questions about whether the disagreement between the forward and De Zerbi can be resolved.
Tottenham are expected to assess their options ahead of the January transfer window, when another opportunity could emerge for Richarlison to leave the club.
For now, the Brazilian’s future remains uncertain, while his latest social media activity suggests that the tension surrounding his exclusion from the first team has not disappeared.
