Liverpool are stepping up plans to strengthen their attacking options this summer, with reports claiming the club are leading the race to sign Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao, who registered an impressive 31 goal contributions (13 goals and 18 assists) during the 2025/26 season.
While Liverpool remain heavily focused on securing a deal for highly-rated RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, the Portuguese winger is viewed as an additional target rather than an alternative. The Reds are expected to reshape their wide attacking department, with the futures of Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa both uncertain.
According to reports from Portugal, Liverpool are currently the favourites to land Trincao and are considering triggering his £52 million release clause. The 26-year-old has rebuilt his reputation since his spell at Wolves and was once again named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Season after an outstanding campaign for Sporting.
Despite their interest in Trincao, Liverpool’s top priority remains Diomande. Trusted journalist David Ornstein recently reported that the Merseyside club are in pole position to agree personal terms with the Ivorian star, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain. However, with Leipzig reportedly valuing Diomande at around £120 million, Liverpool are exploring various options, including the possibility of involving Gakpo in negotiations to help reduce the overall cost of the deal.
