Tottenham Hotspur’s miserable 2025/26 campaign served as a stark warning for the North London club, which came dangerously close to suffering relegation from the Premier League.
Were it not for Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival and impact, Spurs could have found themselves preparing for life in the Championship. Instead, they narrowly secured survival by finishing 17th, just two points above 18th-placed West Ham United.
With their top-flight status preserved, Tottenham have wasted little time in planning for the future, determined to avoid another season of struggle.
Why Robertson and Senesi Have Not Been Announced
Work on strengthening the squad is already underway, with Tottenham reportedly lining up several additions ahead of the new campaign.
According to reports, both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi are expected to join Spurs on free transfers after verbal agreements were reached during the season.
However, supporters are still waiting for official confirmation. The reason is understood to be contractual, with both players remaining tied to their current clubs until June 30, 2026. As a result, Tottenham cannot formally complete or announce the deals until those contracts expire.
The timing of the summer transfer window also plays a role, meaning fans may have to wait until July before the club officially unveils the pair.
Spurs Still Active in the Market
Tottenham’s recruitment plans are not expected to stop with Robertson and Senesi.
The club have reportedly revived their interest in Savinho, the talented winger from Manchester City. Spurs previously saw a £70 million bid blocked by Pep Guardiola, but City are now believed to be open to selling the 22-year-old.
Reports suggest Savinho could be available for significantly less than Tottenham were prepared to pay last summer, potentially giving De Zerbi another exciting attacking option as Spurs continue their squad rebuild. Interest from Newcastle United could, however, complicate any move.
