Liverpool reportedly make contact over €250m Kylian Mbappe transfer
Liverpool could be preparing for one of the biggest transfer moves in their history, with reports claiming the Reds have made contact regarding a potential move for Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe in 2027.
According to Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo, Liverpool have reportedly approached Mbappe’s mother and representative, Fayza Lamari, as they explore the possibility of bringing the France international to Anfield.
Gallardo claims Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs interested in the forward, but says Mbappe’s preference could be a move to Merseyside. He also alleges that the 27-year-old is unhappy with aspects of his situation inside the Real Madrid dressing room and could consider leaving the Spanish giants.
The reported price for Mbappe would be enormous, with Real Madrid potentially demanding between €200 million and €250 million for their star attacker.
Mbappe’s previous Liverpool connection

Mbappe has been one of the most prolific forwards in European football since joining Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2024.
Despite his impressive individual performances, speculation has recently emerged about his long-term future in Spain. Reports claim the Frenchman is uncomfortable with certain aspects of life within the Madrid squad, potentially opening the door for a transfer in 2027.
Liverpool could be an appealing destination because Mbappe already has a history with the club.
The France star recently revealed that he came close to joining Liverpool during his time at Monaco. His mother was reportedly particularly keen on a move to Anfield, while Mbappe also had discussions with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp about the club’s project.
That previous connection could become significant if Liverpool decide to make a serious attempt to sign him.
However, the financial demands involved would make the transfer extremely difficult. A fee of €200m–€250m would represent a huge investment, even for a club of Liverpool’s stature.
Real Madrid unlikely to let Mbappe leave easily
Real Madrid are reportedly not interested in losing one of their most important players, meaning Liverpool would face a major challenge if they formally pursue the French forward.
The Spanish club would likely demand a massive fee before even considering a sale. Reports have also suggested that Michael Olise could potentially be considered as a replacement should Mbappe eventually leave Madrid.
For now, the situation remains far from certain, with plenty of time for circumstances to change before 2027.
Nevertheless, if the reports of Liverpool’s contact with Mbappe’s representatives prove accurate, the potential transfer could develop into one of the biggest and most closely watched sagas in European football.
