NEWS: Erling Haaland Given Extra Rest Ahead of Huge Liverpool Showdown

🚨 NEWS: Haaland Granted Extra Rest Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Erling Haaland has been given additional time to rest before Manchester City’s huge Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The Norwegian striker was substituted in the 67th minute of Norway’s 2–1 defeat to Portugal after appearing to struggle physically. However, Norway boss Ståle Solbakken has eased fears of a serious injury, explaining that Haaland was simply “thoroughly spent” after an extremely demanding schedule. 

Haaland has now been allowed a few extra days off before returning to Manchester City. He is expected back at the club later this week, giving him time to recover ahead of the Anfield showdown.

The 26-year-old has been heavily relied upon this season, playing in every Premier League match and scoring five goals in five league appearances. Solbakken acknowledged that Haaland is among the players carrying the heaviest workload because City compete across multiple competitions.

The Liverpool match will also be City’s first game since an independent commission found the club guilty of 114 of the 115 financial-rule charges brought against them. Manchester City have appealed the verdict.

So, while Haaland’s fitness remains something City will monitor closely, the latest update is encouraging: there is no indication of a serious injury, and the extra rest is designed to have him ready for Liverpool.
