Tottenham underwent a major squad overhaul during the summer after finishing 17th in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons, with almost half of the squad being replaced.
With so many new faces arriving at once, the Lilywhites have understandably needed time to settle, and the team is still trying to develop the chemistry required to perform consistently.
Spurs chairman Vinai Venkatesham has also warned that the club must be mindful of financial limitations following their significant summer spending. Now, Tottenham have reportedly been given the opportunity to sign two experienced players at potentially reduced prices.
AC Milan offer Tomori and Loftus-Cheek to Tottenham
According to TEAMtalk, AC Milan have approached Tottenham over potential January deals for former Chelsea players Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Both the experienced defender and midfielder are approaching the final months of their contracts at San Siro, and Milan are reportedly keen to receive a fee for them in January rather than risk losing both players for nothing when their contracts expire in the summer.
Neither player has reportedly held talks with Milan over a contract extension, making an exit increasingly likely during the January transfer window.
Milan are also looking to free up space in their squad for incoming additions and have therefore contacted Tottenham and several other Premier League clubs to make them aware of the duo’s availability.
However, there is currently no indication that Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham are seriously considering a move for either player.
Coventry emerge as contenders
Tottenham are not the only Premier League club to have been contacted. Milan have reportedly also made Newcastle United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Fulham aware of Tomori and Loftus-Cheek’s availability.
However, Coventry City could be one of the clubs to watch, particularly in the race for Loftus-Cheek and Tomori.
The Championship side are looking to add valuable Premier League experience in January, while manager Frank Lampard is reportedly interested in reuniting with the two players he previously worked with at Chelsea.
A move to Coventry would give Lampard the opportunity to bring two familiar faces into his squad, while Milan could avoid losing the experienced pair for free next summer.
