Liverpool have officially secured the signing of highly regarded Colombian teenager Samuel Martinez, adding one of South America’s brightest young prospects to their ranks.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed a long-term deal with the Reds, although fans will have to wait before seeing him at Anfield. Under FIFA regulations, international transfers involving players under 18 cannot be completed, meaning Martinez will remain with Atlético Nacional until next summer when he becomes eligible to join Liverpool.

The Reds are believed to have agreed a deal worth around £750,000 for the talented youngster. Martinez has already completed his medical and signed a five-year contract, which will come into effect once he celebrates his 18th birthday.
The Colombian starlet has earned widespread praise after rising through Atlético Nacional’s youth system and breaking into the senior team. His impressive performances also played a key role in Colombia’s triumph at the South American U-17 Championship, attracting interest from several leading European clubs.

Liverpool acted quickly to win the race for his signature, underlining the club’s ongoing strategy of investing in elite young talent. Although he will spend the upcoming season continuing his development in Colombia, Liverpool will closely track his progress ahead of his arrival next summer.
With Samuel Martinez now part of the club’s long-term plans, Liverpool supporters will be eager to see whether the promising midfielder can one day emulate the success of the South American stars who have flourished at Anfield.
