Liverpool reopening contract talks with Alexis Mac Allister. Here’s the full story based on the latest reports:

Liverpool reopen Mac Allister contract talks

Liverpool have reportedly restarted discussions over a new contract for Alexis Mac Allister, according to transfer reporter Indy Kaila. The development comes after the midfielder’s impressive performances for the Reds in recent matches.

Mac Allister had previously revealed that he was “very sad” after being told Liverpool were not in a position to offer him a new contract. His current deal runs until 2028, and he admitted that he had opportunities to leave Liverpool during the summer but decided to stay at Anfield.

The Argentine midfielder said his decision to remain was because he loves Liverpool and believes the club can achieve something special under new manager Andoni Iraola. He also stressed that he would continue giving his best for the club regardless of the contract situation.

Since then, Mac Allister has responded strongly on the pitch. He scored in Liverpool’s 2–1 Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid and then found the net again in the 3–1 Carabao Cup victory over Tottenham.

Those performances have reportedly encouraged Liverpool to reconsider the situation and reopen discussions over a possible extension. Earlier reports had also suggested that Liverpool were planning talks with his representatives later in the year.

However, no new contract has been officially announced. The latest claim about renewed talks comes from a transfer source, so negotiations should not be treated as a completed agreement yet.

Mac Allister’s situation is therefore one to watch closely, particularly with his current contract running until 2028 and Liverpool having already secured new long-term deals for midfielders such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
