Spurs Preparing Serious Move for £100m-Rated Star Who Could Be Their Own Vinicius Jr. – Opinion
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to step up their pursuit of Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi, with the club expected to make a serious move in the coming weeks as Roberto De Zerbi looks to strengthen his attacking options.
While Arsenal are chasing a blockbuster deal for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, Spurs are unlikely to compete for players of that stature after only narrowly avoiding relegation last season. However, Kroupi could prove to be Tottenham’s own transformative signing.
The north London club have already focused heavily on rebuilding their defence and midfield this summer, bringing in Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke at the back, while club-record arrivals Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have reinforced the midfield. A move for Manchester City winger Savinho would add even more creativity, forming an exciting attacking unit alongside James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus.
The remaining question is whether Dominic Solanke is the long-term answer up front.
Kroupi could provide that solution. The highly-rated French striker enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough campaign, becoming the first teenager to score 13 Premier League goals in his debut season. Tipped by GOAL as “the next Kylian Mbappé” and reportedly valued at around £100 million, the 20-year-old is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.
Although comparisons with Vinicius Junior may seem ambitious, both players burst onto the scene as elite prospects capable of transforming a club’s attack. Vinicius eventually fulfilled his immense potential at Real Madrid after being labelled “the next Neymar” early in his career, and Spurs will hope Kroupi can follow a similarly impressive path.
Tottenham have spent the last three years searching for a true successor to Harry Kane. If they succeed in landing Kroupi, they may finally have found the striker capable of leading De Zerbi’s project and becoming the game-changing figure the club has been waiting for.
