Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Martin Baturina for several weeks after the Croatian midfielder impressed during his debut campaign in Serie A with Como, following his move from Dinamo Zagreb last summer.
The 23-year-old built on that form with a series of eye-catching displays at the World Cup, further boosting his reputation and attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Reports suggest Como have already rejected offers worth between €50m and €55m (£43m-£47m) for Baturina this summer as competition for his signature continues to grow.
According to CalcioMercato, Tottenham are not alone in the race, with Aston Villa and Manchester United also monitoring the attacking midfielder. Despite the growing interest, Como remain relaxed, viewing Baturina as one of the club’s key players.
The Italian side will only consider selling if an exceptional bid arrives. Como president Mirwan Suwarso confirmed the club’s stance, explaining that they are willing to evaluate offers but will not hesitate to reject them if they fall short of their valuation.
> “If there’s an offer, we’ll listen. If we like it, we’ll accept, but we’re not afraid to refuse,” Suwarso said. “Last summer, we rejected a €60m offer for Assane Diao, and in the winter another €40m bid for Jayden Addai.”
While Tottenham may be in the market for another attacking midfielder, a move for Baturina appears far from certain. Xavi Simons is still recovering from an ACL injury, Lucas Bergvall has been linked with a summer exit, and Dejan Kulusevski has yet to return, leaving James Maddison and Conor Gallagher as the club’s only fully fit options in the role.
Even so, Spurs may be reluctant to commit a significant transfer fee for another No. 10, especially with Simons expected to return before the end of the year.
