BREAKING: Roberto De Zerbi takes Tottenham to Marbella as Spurs boss plans major squad reset

Tottenham Hotspur have travelled to Marbella for a warm-weather training camp as Roberto De Zerbi looks to rebuild confidence, improve fitness and strengthen team unity following their difficult start to the season.

The Italian manager is keen to use the break to address Spurs’ physical conditioning after a disrupted pre-season left the squad short of fitness. However, the trip is also expected to help the players develop a stronger connection following a summer of major changes, with 10 new signings arriving for fees exceeding £300 million.

De Zerbi has previously used similar retreats to turn his teams’ fortunes around. During his time at Marseille in November 2024, he organised a four-day training camp when the French side were struggling for consistency. The focus was not just on tactics but also on bringing experienced players and younger talents closer together.

The approach appeared to pay off, with Marseille producing improved results and later securing Champions League qualification.

Now, De Zerbi hopes to replicate that success at Tottenham. Following Spurs’ morale-boosting draw against Manchester United, the manager suggested that his players were finally beginning to look like a united team.

With Tottenham not returning to action until their meeting with Coventry City next Monday, the Marbella camp offers De Zerbi valuable time to work on fitness, tactical organisation and team chemistry.

The big question is whether this trip can finally help Spurs turn their season around.
