Liverpool could be ready to make a surprise move for former academy star Tyler Morton after his stunning development in France put him back on the radar at Anfield.
The 23-year-old midfielder left Liverpool for £15 million in the summer of 2025, but his impressive Ligue 1 performances have reportedly triggered interest from a number of Premier League and European clubs.
TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool are among seven English top-flight sides monitoring Morton ahead of the January transfer window.
Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Brighton had already kept tabs on the midfielder, while Newcastle, Sunderland and Everton have reportedly joined Liverpool in the growing battle for his signature.
Morton departed during Arne Slot’s reign as Liverpool looked to reduce the size of the squad, with limited opportunities available for younger players to establish themselves in the first team.
That could change under Andoni Iraola, however. The current Liverpool boss has shown a clear willingness to give young talents opportunities at senior level, with Lewis Koumas already emerging as a notable example.
Morton’s rapid progress could therefore put Liverpool in an intriguing position as they consider whether to bring their former academy graduate back to Anfield.
