Jürgen Klopp has already made major changes since taking charge of the Germany national football team, introducing a stricter disciplinary regime ahead of Germany’s UEFA Nations League meeting with the Netherlands.
🍽️ Mandatory team meals
Players can no longer arrive individually for dinner whenever they want. Klopp reportedly requires the entire squad to be present and seated together at the scheduled meal time.
📱 Mobile-phone restrictions
Phones are banned during certain matchday activation periods, including time spent in the gym and on treatment tables. Klopp wants players to focus on preparation and interact more with teammates and staff.
💈 No haircuts at team facilities
One unusual rule prohibits professional haircuts from being carried out at the team hotel or training facilities. The idea, according to the report, is to keep the national-team camp focused on football and professionalism.
👨👩👧 Limited family visits
Family access has also reportedly been restricted. Instead of family members having broad access to the team base, visits will only be permitted on selected occasions.
Why Klopp is doing this
The reported changes are intended to create greater discipline, togetherness and concentration within the German squad. They also mark a change from some of the more flexible arrangements used under former coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Klopp’s first competitive test with Germany is against the Netherlands on 24 September 2026, followed by Nations League matches against Greece, Serbia and Greece again.
In short: Klopp has started his Germany era by putting strong emphasis on discipline, team bonding and minimizing distractions around the squad.
